FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Things you need to know before starting the certification process

Q
How long does the certification process take from start to issuance?
It depends on the scheme and the client document readiness. Generally, the process from registration to certificate issuance takes 3-6 months for initial certification.
Q
Are certificates issued by USL internationally recognized?
Yes. USL operates under KAN accreditation, which has signed MRA/MLA agreements with APAC, IAF, and ILAC - making our certificates internationally recognized.
Q
What is the difference between initial certification, surveillance, and recertification?
Initial certification is the first audit to obtain a certificate. Surveillance is an annual monitoring audit. Recertification is done when the certificate validity expires (usually every 3-5 years).
Q
Can I apply for more than one certification scheme at once?
Yes. USL can conduct an integrated audit for multiple schemes at once, which is generally more time- and cost-efficient than separate audits.
Q
What happens if a nonconformity is found during the audit?
The client is given time to take corrective action. Minor nonconformities are typically resolved within 30-90 days. Major nonconformities require a re-audit before the certificate can be issued.
Q
How do I start the certification process?
Fill out the online registration form on the Register for Certification page. Our team will contact you within 1-3 business days to discuss the scope and specific needs of your organization.
